Seven Days in June
Eva Mercy is a single mother and the bestselling author of a fifteen-book vampire romance series she has grown to resent, living with debilitating migraines and raising a sharply observant daughter in Brooklyn. Shane Hall is a literary novelist newly sober, newly celebrated, and newly back in New York for the first time in years. Twenty years earlier, the two spent one feverish high-school week together in Washington that ended badly, shaped both of their entire catalogs, and was never publicly connected to either name. When they cross paths at a literary event, the decades-old conversation they never finished is suddenly, publicly, restarted. Tia Williams's 2021 novel pairs a second-chance Black romance with a funny, aching portrait of chronic illness, artistic reinvention, and what an adult couple chooses to do with a week they still owe each other.
